Overview
The File List dialog lets you define the set of source PDF files and their order when generating a Table of Contents that spans multiple documents. Use this dialog to add, remove, and reorder files before TOC generation so that page numbers and cross-file bookmark destinations resolve correctly.
How to use
- Open the TOC Builder multi-file workflow.
- Click the File List button to open the dialog.
- Use Add to browse for and select one or more PDF files.
- Arrange the files into the desired order using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
- To remove a file, select it in the list and click Remove.
- Click OK to confirm the file list and return to the main TOC Builder dialog.
Dialog elements
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| File list | Displays the current set of source PDFs in the order they will appear in the generated TOC. Select a file to move or remove it. |
| Add | Opens a file browser to select one or more PDF files to include. |
| Remove | Removes the currently selected file from the list. |
| Move Up / Move Down | Changes the position of the selected file in the list, which controls the order of entries in the generated TOC. |
Tip
Ensure consistent page labels across all files so that page numbers in the generated TOC are meaningful and sequential.
Note
After generation, verify that cross-file bookmark destinations resolve correctly, especially if files have been reordered or replaced since the last TOC build.
