The Apply Watermark tool adds a text watermark across document pages. Watermarks are commonly used to mark documents as "DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL", "REDACTED", or with other status indicators before distribution.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | The watermark text to display on each page. Common values include "DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL", "REDACTED", "COPY", or a custom label. |
| Font Size | The size of the watermark text in points. Larger values create a more prominent watermark. Typical values range from 48 to 120 points. |
| Color | The color of the watermark text. Click the color button to open the standard Windows color picker. Default is typically a light gray or red. |
| Opacity | The transparency of the watermark, specified as a percentage (0–100). Lower values make the watermark more transparent, allowing the document content to show through clearly. |
| Rotation | The angle of rotation for the watermark text. Select from preset angles in the dropdown. A diagonal watermark (e.g., 45 degrees) is the most common choice for full-page watermarks. |
| Page Range | Apply the watermark to all pages or a specific page range (From / To). |
The watermark text is centered on each page and rendered as part of the page content. It is drawn on top of the existing page content.
Tip
Use a low opacity (e.g., 15–25%) for watermarks that should be visible but not interfere with reading the document content. Use higher opacity for strong visual impact.
Note
Watermarks are added directly to the page content stream. Once applied and saved, they become a permanent part of the page and cannot be removed without editing the PDF content.
