Import mode
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Single file | Import bookmarks from a single PDF file. Use the Browse button to select the source file. |
| Folder | Import bookmarks from all PDF files in a folder. Use the Browse button to select the source folder. |
Options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Keep existing bookmarks | Retains the current bookmark tree before importing. When unchecked, existing bookmarks are replaced by the imported ones. Enabled by default. |
| Insert bookmarks | Controls where imported bookmarks are placed relative to the existing tree. Choices are Before or After the current bookmarks. This option is only available when Keep existing bookmarks is enabled. |
| Keep locations in source PDF | Preserves the original page and link destinations from the source document. When enabled, imported bookmarks point back to the source file. |
| Adjust external file references | Updates linked file paths for imported bookmarks that reference external PDFs, adjusting them relative to the target document’s location. |
| Copy bookmark attributes | Copies visual formatting (bold, italic, color) from the source bookmarks. Enabled by default. |
| Open links in a separate window | Forces imported file links to open in a new Acrobat window rather than the current one. |
Tip
When importing from a folder, each PDF’s bookmarks are imported in file order. Use the Insert bookmarks: Before or After setting to control placement relative to any existing bookmarks.
Note
A file path (for single file mode) or folder path (for folder mode) must be provided before the OK button becomes active.
