OpenOptions
Control how a PDF opens in Adobe Acrobat: initial view, magnification, page layout, starting page, window sizing, full-screen, and toolbar/menubar visibility. Apply to a single file or as a saved configuration to whole batches.

Overview
OpenOptions is an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that lets you preset every property controlling how a PDF presents itself when opened. Acrobat exposes the same settings via File > Properties > Initial View, but only a file at a time. OpenOptions adds named, reusable configurations and works hand-in-hand with Mapsoft’s Automator for batch application.
Use it to make sure every distributed PDF opens at the right page, with the right zoom, the right panels showing, and the right window chrome — whether you’re shipping one document or ten thousand.
Open Settings
Every property of Acrobat’s “Initial View” dialog, plus three-state semantics for safe batch use.
Initial View
Open with Page only, Bookmarks panel and page, Pages panel and page, or any other navigation panel layout supported by Acrobat.
Magnification
Set Fit Page, Fit Width, Fit Visible, Actual Size, or any fixed percentage. Or leave it at “Do not change” to honor the existing setting.
Page Layout
Single Page, Continuous, Two-Up, or Two-Up Continuous — pick the layout that suits the document or leave it untouched.
Page Number
Open the document on a specific page — perfect for table-of-contents jumps, executive summaries, or chapter-specific links.
Window Options
Resize the window to the initial page, center it on screen, or open in full-screen presentation mode.
UI Visibility
Hide the menu bar, toolbar, or window controls when the document opens — useful for kiosk and signage scenarios.
Key Features
Designed for both one-off edits and large-scale batch application.
Three-State Checkboxes
Window and UI options have checked, unchecked, and a gray “leave unchanged” state — so you can apply a configuration across mixed batches without trampling settings you didn’t mean to touch.
Named Configurations
Save and recall sets of open-option values as named configurations stored in an INI file — making consistent defaults easy to apply repeatedly.
Batch via Automator
Saved configurations integrate with Mapsoft’s Automator for hands-off application across folders or thousands of PDFs at a time.
Acrobat Integration
Lives natively under Plug-Ins > Mapsoft > OpenOptions..., fitting straight into your existing Acrobat workflow with no extra app to launch.
Current & Clear
Pull the active document’s existing settings into the dialog with one click, or reset everything to “Do not change” to start fresh.
Completely Free
No license key required. Download and use OpenOptions at no cost, with no limitations or expiration. A workflow-server build and COM automation interface are also available for scripted use.
Use Cases
Wherever the way a PDF opens matters, OpenOptions makes it consistent.
Publishing Workflows
Make sure every PDF you ship opens at page one, fit-to-width, with bookmarks visible — or any house-style default you choose — with no last-minute manual tweaking.
Kiosks & Digital Signage
Open documents in full-screen mode with the menu bar and toolbar hidden, ready for unattended display in lobbies, exhibitions, or retail.
Reader-Friendly Defaults
Override poorly-set initial views inherited from upstream tools so readers don’t land on a randomly-placed page at an awkward zoom.
Bulk Preparation
Apply a saved configuration across an entire archive at once via Automator — great for harmonizing legacy collections before redistribution.
System Requirements
Adobe Acrobat
Adobe Acrobat Pro or Standard (DC, 2020, or 2017). Not compatible with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Operating System
Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit recommended). Both 32-bit and 64-bit Acrobat installations are supported.
License
Completely free. No license key or registration required.
