Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making mapsoft.com usable by everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology.
Our Commitment
Mapsoft Computer Services is committed to ensuring that mapsoft.com is accessible to people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard recommended by the W3C and widely adopted as the legal baseline under the UK Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations, the EU Accessibility Act, and interpretations of the US ADA.
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We assess our site regularly, fix issues as we find them, and welcome feedback from users who encounter barriers.
Conformance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. The known exceptions are listed under Known Limitations below.
The most recent self-assessment of the site against WCAG 2.1 AA was carried out in April 2026.
What We Have Done
Mapsoft has taken the following concrete steps to make this site accessible:
- Semantic HTML and landmarks — every page uses header, nav, main, and footer landmarks, with a single h1 and a logical heading hierarchy so screen-reader users can navigate by structure.
- Keyboard support — all interactive elements (navigation menus, dropdowns, forms, filters, modal dialogs, and cookie banner) are reachable and operable by keyboard alone. The Escape key closes menus and dialogs.
- Skip link — a “Skip to content” link is the first focusable item on every page, allowing users to bypass the header and navigation.
- Visible focus indicators — all focusable elements display a clear focus ring when reached by keyboard or assistive technology.
- Labelled form controls — every form input has an associated label, required fields are marked with
aria-required, and validation errors are announced viarole="alert"live regions. - Alt text on images — meaningful alternative text is provided for content images. Decorative images are marked so assistive technologies can skip them.
- Data tables — comparison and data tables use proper
<th>,scopeattributes, and captions so cell relationships are announced correctly. - Reduced-motion support — scroll animations and transitions are disabled automatically for users who have enabled the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting in their operating system or browser. - Colour contrast — body text, links, and buttons meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Colour is not the sole cue — form validation, links, and status messages use text or icons in addition to colour so they remain understandable to users who cannot perceive certain colours.
- Responsive and resizable — all pages reflow correctly at 400% zoom and on narrow mobile viewports without horizontal scrolling.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas that do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working to address them:
- Documentation pages — the large archive of user-guide pages under Docs has not yet been audited in detail. Structure and heading hierarchy may be inconsistent on some pages.
- Video captions and transcripts — most videos on our Videos page are hosted on YouTube. We are working to ensure every video has human-reviewed captions and, where practical, a full text transcript. Videos marked “Transcript coming soon” on the Videos page do not yet have one available.
- Decorative SVG icons — some inline SVG icons used alongside text labels do not yet carry explicit accessible names. Where an SVG sits beside a text label, the label provides the accessible name, so this does not usually affect screen-reader users, but we are tidying these up over time.
- Third-party content — content served from external services we embed or link to (for example, YouTube's own player controls, or payment pages on our merchant of record FastSpring) is governed by those providers' own accessibility standards and may differ from ours.
Accessibility Features in Your Browser
Your browser and operating system include a range of built-in accessibility settings that work with our site:
- Text size — use your browser's zoom (Ctrl/Cmd + +) to enlarge the page up to 400% without losing content.
- Reduced motion — enable “Reduce motion” in your OS accessibility settings and our scroll animations will be disabled automatically.
- High contrast — Windows High Contrast mode and macOS Increase Contrast are supported by our colour scheme.
- Screen readers — the site has been tested with NVDA and Narrator on Windows, and is expected to work with VoiceOver on macOS/iOS and TalkBack on Android.

- United States — complaints relating to the ADA can be filed with the US Department of Justice.
Preparation of This Statement
This statement was prepared on . It was last reviewed on .
The statement is based on a self-assessment of the site against WCAG 2.1 Level AA using a combination of manual keyboard testing, screen-reader testing with NVDA, and automated scanning with axe-core and Lighthouse. We plan to review and update this statement at least annually, or whenever substantial changes are made to the site.
