Adobe PDF Library software development

Adobe PDF Library

The Adobe PDF library is essentially a software development version of Adobe Acrobat, but without the user interface; nonetheless, it provides far more than that.

Mapsoft is a licensee of the Adobe PDF Library that we use in some of our products and we can also use it in Custom Software Development.

Where the Adobe PDF Library used?

The library is integrated into Adobe’s CC (Creative Cloud) applications, such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, and Adobe Illustrator and shares a lot of its technology with Adobe Acrobat, and is available as an OEM offering to third-party companies such as Mapsoft.

Custom Software Application Development

The Adobe PDF Library is a software development kit (SDK) that allows developers to create applications that can create, manipulate, and manage PDF documents. It also has a pdf generator api. The library offers a set of APIs for creating PDFs from scratch, manipulating existing PDFs, extracting data from PDFs, and more. Enterprises, government agencies, and applications needing PDF document creation for printing or electronic distribution, as well as other custom software development solutions, frequently use it.

Benefits of the Adobe PDF Library

  • Developed by Adobe® and Datalogics
  • The Adobe PDF Library comes with the same core technology that Adobe® uses to build Adobe® Acrobat®. However it is not subject to the same licensing restrictions.
  • Much of the C++ interface available in the Acrobat SDK and PDFLibrary SDK is code compatible and can be used in both environments.
  • C/C++ and C# .NET developments including .NET Core.
  • High level of compatibility with current and past versions of PDF and PDF standards such as PDF/X and PDF/A.
  • High levels of development code compatability with Acrobat and Reader plug-ins. We have some solutions that work with Acrobat and the PDF Library.
  • Take advantage of a over a decade of Adobe® PDF Library development experience at Mapsoft.
  • Can be integrated with Server and Cloud based services. We also have .NET, HTML5 and JavaScript skills in house.

PDF Library Plugins

There are several Adobe PDF Library plug-ins available that can be used to extend the functionality of the library. Some examples of these plug-ins include:

  • Digital Signatures: Allows users to digitally sign and verify PDF documents, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of the document.
  • PDF Optimizer: Allows users to optimize PDF documents for faster loading and smaller file sizes.
  • PDF Security: Provides security features such as encryption and password protection for PDF documents.
  • PDF Redaction: Allows users to redact sensitive information from PDF documents, such as personally identifiable information or confidential data.
  • PDF Forms: Allows users to create and fill out interactive PDF forms.

The Adobe PDF Library is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, and it can be used with a variety of programming languages, including C++, Java, and .NET.

Licensing the PDFLibrary

Mapsoft can provide software development based on its own OEM license. However to obtain the Intelectual property rights of all of the code that we develop or to license a version of the library other than the 64 bit Windows version of the library, the PDF library is available from Datalogics.

Datalogics grants licences for the PDF library to software developers from other companies and also offers assistance, upkeep, and licencing of the library files when another organisation, like Mapsoft, has provided the development services.

For more information on the Adobe PDF library please see the Datalogics website at:  https://www.datalogics.com/products/pdf/pdflibrary/
